The beautiful Jetty River Lodge is perfectly situated on a 14 000 m2 piece of private land on thebanks of the mighty Umzimvubu River, a mere five km from Port St.Johns Surrounded by lush fruit trees, in a completely natural setting, bringing one closer to nature. It is the ideal holiday retreat for jaded city slickers and nature-lovers alike.


 Wake up to the sounds of fish eagles and a morning breeze whispering through the trees and watch the sun gleam on the river while you enjoy breakfast on the patio. , A lazy afternoon swim in our sparkling pool and a picnic under the shade of our century-old pecan nut trees is a sure favourite among our many regular patrons. Enjoy a spectacular sunset over Mt Sullivan while preparing your evening braai, or having sundowners at our bars patio.


The Jetty River Lodge offers both bed and self-catering accommodation options as well as camping .


Bird-watchers will love the wide variety of birdlife that regularly visit our trees and river front; the African fish eagle, Egyptian geese, Green-backed herron, Cape gannet, Crowned hornbill to name a few. During the months of April and May, one is assured of seeing the endangered Cape green parrot, which have recently returned to Port St Johns.


Fishermen are treated to a variety of excellent fishing spots - both rock and surf - or you could simply walk down to the river bank. For the fishermen in search of an adventure, launch your boat off the property and take a scenic journey to the Umzimvubu River mouth. Once you land the fish of your dreams, cleaning it is a breeze with the cleaning station set up right next to the river. Port St Johns is a favourite fishing destination, especially between the months of May and September when the Sardine run is on.


The Wild Coast is well known for its dramatic and stunning landscape and Port St Johns is truly the “Jewel of the Wild Coast”. Our beautiful indigenous tropical forests and waterfalls accompanied with steep cliffs and rock formations are a feast for the eye.


Indulge in the scenery by hiking either through the forest or along the beach, otherwise jump in a canoe and take a slow paddle upriver. Whatever you decide on, be sure to take a camera along as it is guaranteed that you will stumble upon something beautiful, something you won’t soon want to forget.
