The beautiful Jetty River Lodge is situated on the banks of the mighty Umzimvubu River, a mere five kilometers from Port St Johns. It is the ideal holiday retreat for jaded city slickers and nature-lovers alike. Nestled in serene settings among century-old pecan nut trees with manicured rolling lawns and gardens, perfect for a day lounging at the pool or a picnic with the family on the river bank.

Bird-watchers will love the wide variety of birdlife that regularly visit our trees and river front; the African fish eagle, Egyptian geese, Green-backed herron, Cape gannet, Crowned hornbill to name a few. During the months of April and May, one is assured of seeing the endangered Cape green parrot, which have recently returned to Port St Johns.

Fishermen are treated to a variety of excellent fishing spots - both rock and surf - or you could simply walk down to the river bank. For the fishermen in search of an adventure, launch your boat off the property and take a scenic journey to the Umzimvubu River mouth or let us charter a deep-sea trip for you to some of our unspoilt reefs. Once you land the fish of your dreams, cleaning it is a breeze with the cleaning station set up right next to the river. Port St Johns is a favourite fishing destination, especially between the months of May and August when the Sardine run is on.

The Wild Coast is well known for its dramatic and stunning landscape and Port St Johns is truly the “Jewel of the Wild Coast”. Our beautiful indigenous tropical forests and waterfalls accompanied with steep cliffs and rock formations, are a feast for the eye.

Indulge in the scenery by hiking either through the forest or along the beach, otherwise jump in a canoe and take a slow paddle upriver. Whatever you decide on, be sure to take a camera along as it is guaranteed that you will stumble upon something beautiful, something you won’t soon want to forget.

The Jetty River Lodge has been under new ownership since April 2009 and has since been completely refurbished with all the mod-cons, finishings and luxuries one would expect. Our kitchen boasts brand new fitted state of the art stainless steel fixtures, which any top restaurant would be proud of. Be sure to visit our newly-built bar and enjoy a drink and a game of pool while watching the rugby, or simply enjoy a relaxing cocktail on our patio while you watch the sun set over the Umzimvubu River.

Both bed and breakfast as well as self-catering accommodation options are available and all rooms have an en-suite bathroom. We also have three fishermen cottages, each able to accommodate two people with braai facilities and share a ablution block.

Unfortunately we do not have camping or caravan facilities. A generator has been installed onsite, ensuring our patrons never get caught in a blackout.

We pride ourselves on being a family-run establishment and we look forward to meeting you
